Pres: Belarus hopes for cheap US loans to build Baltic oil pipeline

MINSK, Mar 3 (PRIME) -- The U.S. can provide cheap loans to Belarus for construction of an oil pipeline from the Baltic states, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Tuesday.

“I have discussed this with the state secretary, about help with infrastructure and oil supply,” Lukashenko said.

“It was (Mike) Pompeo who offered this oil at a competitive price. And there was a statement at the Munich conference: they allocated U.S. $1 billion on construction of the logistic units, meaning for oil supplies. We can count on getting very cheap loans from them to build that ill-fated pipeline from the Baltic.”

Belarus has not agreed on the terms of oil imports with the majority of Russian companies, and its refineries are only half loaded in March.
